MCP FAQ

FAQ on the Omega Point MCP server for AI workflows

Written by Karen Chen

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT connect directly to external platforms and data sources. With Omega Point's MCP integration, you can query your portfolio risk and analytics data directly from your AI client of choice using natural language.

How do I connect my AI client to my Omega Point account?

How does authentication work?

The MCP server uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. When you connect or use an MCP tool for the first time, your AI client will redirect you to the Omega Point login page. You sign in with the same credentials you use for the Omega Point platform.

How do I enable AI on my account?

Only an admin to your Omega Point account can accept the AI Terms and Conditions.

All users on the account will have access to AI features after accepting the AI Terms and Conditions.

How do I know if MCP is enabled on my account?

From the OP Home > My Profile page, a panel with a list of MCP sessions appears once MCP is enabled.

What can AI do with the Omega Point MCP? What tools are available?

The MCP integration gives your AI client access to the analytics available in the Omega Point platform, including security research, portfolio analysis, risk model data, thematic exposures, and more. See example questions to get started.

Where can I find Omega Point's AI security and compliance policies?

What data does MCP have access to?

MCP only has access to the same information your login with Omega Point has access to, the same resources and datasets as provisioned via your Teams & Members setup.

Can the AI make changes to my Omega Point account?

No. The MCP tools are read-only. They do not allow the AI to write, update, or delete any data in the Omega Point platform.

What should I do if the results look wrong?

AI assistants can misinterpret your question or intent, so it's important to verify the results. Most AI clients allow you to inspect which tools were called, along with their inputs and outputs. The output of most Omega Point MCP tools correspond directly to GraphQL API results, so you can cross-reference them if needed.
